After several years of field experience and hundreds of encounters, GEERG has developed a voluntary code of diver conduct as well as safety procedures in order to increase diver awareness and to help reduce the risks during Greenland shark encounters. Our recommendations also aim to minimise the human impact on the shark's normal life cycle.

However, the most important message is the following: DIVING WITH THE GREENLAND SHARK POSES INHERENT RISKS EVEN UNDER THE BEST CONDITIONS. The only means of guaranteeing the safety of divers is to refrain from diving in areas where the Greenland shark is found.
